Use of Scanners at our Book Sales

We are thankful for the community members who donate books to the Friends of the Library. We also appreciate everyone who comes to our book sales to purchase these items. This successful exchange benefits the Pittsford Community Library through programs, technology, loans, and even comfy furniture to sit on.

During our book sales we occasionally receive feedback and complaints about book buyers using scanners and potentially monopolizing space with large quantities to purchase. The sales committee is aware this is a concern and is working to ensure that all shoppers have a positive experience.

These guidelines can help everyone enjoy our book sales:

1. When you have more than one bag, bin, or box please work with the floor assistants to gather your purchases in our workroom.

2. Please do not place items under the tables. The volunteers will help label and gather your items in the workroom.

3. Please do not monopolize a category. If there are other people waiting to look please move on. You can always return to a category later.

4. All types of shoppers are welcome at the sale. If you are looking for 1 or 2 books or 200 books everyone should have the opportunity to browse the categories.

5. Be aware of your impact on those around you and please be kind.

6. Remember! The books are replenished as the sale goes on!

The first hours of the sale are very busy. The volunteers are working hard to help everyone find what they are looking for.

Please be patient and have fun!
